Well Child Visits & Check Ups are Important

Well Child Visits Foster Growth & Child Development

The American Academy of Pediatrics has an established schedule of checkups at pre-set intervals during a child’s development. These appointments are the equivalent of annual physical for an adult. The schedule also tends to follow the immunization requirements so that your child is prepared for each step of his/her development.

The recommended schedules for Well Visits:

  • 1-2 days following discharge
  • 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 1 year
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • Every year afterward

What Occurs During a Well Child Check?

Depending on the age of your child, during a well child check, your child’s provider will evaluate:

  • Growth & Development
  • Diet & Nutrition
  • Speech
  • Hearing
  • Vision
  • Reading
  • Learning
  • Grades
  • Age Related Safety Issues

These appointments can include vaccinations as well as informing parents about safety guidelines.
