Immunizations
Vaccines Save Lives. Call Village Pediatrics to Protect Your Child.
Childhood vaccinations are extremely important in preventing a number of diseases—many of which can be fatal or cause lifelong disability. Thanks to immunizations, diseases that once claimed thousands of young lives are now rare and preventable.
Diseases that are now preventable through vaccinations include:
- Chickenpox
- Hib
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza / flu
- Diphtheria
- Measles
- Mumps
- Pertussis
- Polio
- Pneumococcal
- Rotavirus
- Tetanus
- Rubella
According to a report from the United States Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), immunizations saved over 732,000 children’s lives and prevented approximately 322 million cases of childhood sickness during the 20-year period between 1994 and 2004. If you have questions about vaccinations and how to protect your child against preventable diseases, we encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention website for more information.
At Village Pediatrics, we respect each parent’s right to choose their child’s course of health care delivery. We recommend the American Academy of Pediatrics vaccination schedule and require all new patients to vaccinate to the minimum N.Y.S. requirements. As long as you agree to these regulations, Dr. Calkins is willing to discuss alternative schedules upon request.
